Trident Motorsport claimed a sensational 1-2 finish at the legendary Belgian track. Zane Maloney won today’s Feature Race in front of Roman Staněk. Jonny Edgar rounded out the top-5 with a positive performance.
Trident Motorsport delivered a sensational run today in brilliant weather at Spa-Francorchamps. Lining-up at the legendary Walloon track, the team captured a prestigious one-two finish in the Feature Race. Ending up in first and second place respectively, Zane Maloney and Roman Staněk dominated the main race in round seven of the FIA Formula 3 Championship.
Maloney and Staněk started from P2 and P5 on the grid respectively, and had no real rivals on the famous circuit. They finished just one second apart with a superb parade under the checkered flag. As for the top positions, the Feature Race turned out to be one way, with the Trident Motorsport duo progressively driving away from the field. At the end of a closely fought race, 18-year-old British driver Jonny Edgar cruised to a positive 5th place. Although he had third place clearly in his sights, he suffered a slight drop in the latest stages of the race and got down to P5.
Maloney was thus able to score his first win in the FIA Formula 3 Championship, keeping the great momentum he already showed in the previous round at Budapest. The 18-year-old Bridgetown native moved him up to seventh place in the championship. Maloney also took the satisfaction of setting the fastest lap. P2 allowed Roman Staněk to move up to fifth in the overall standings, only ten points off the top and with solid ambitions of entering the title fight. Now the series moves to Zandvoort for the penultimate round of the season next weekend. The points achieved in the Ardennes allow Trident Motorsport to move up to P2 in the Team Standings.

My mechanics did not sleep last night to work on my car, which was heavily damaged in the Sprint Race crash, to enable me to show up at the start. In fact, they assembled a new car that turned out to be perfect and allowed me to win. It was a truly amazing job! I easily built a consistent lead early in the race and sailed to victory. I also thank my sponsors and the people who support me. Now we need to continue on this level in the last two races of the year."
