Performance. The #930 car finished the rain-affected race first in the 992 class and 5th overall. 

Stepping away from his usual manufacturer, Christodoulou tackled the new challenge of racing a 992 Porsche Cup car around the iconic Spa-Francorchamps circuit. He partnered up with his former China GT series teammate Eric Zang, as well as Zang’s current colleague Xinzhe Xie.
 

In Friday morning’s free practice session they clearly showed their pace, finishing third in class and ahead of the other two HRT Performance machines. The weekend’s qualifying session – which was affected by rain showers and a partly drying track - was split into three parts. The HRT trio came into their own in the second session, topping the 992 class timing board with a lap time of 2:26.940. Once all sessions were combined, they were ultimately classified 8th. 

The 12-hour main event was divided into two six-hour parts, one on Saturday and the other on Sunday. In Saturday’s first half, the racing was affected by two downpours within two hours, causing most cars to pit and switch their slick tyres to wets. HRT Performance, however, made the decision to keep the #930 out, and at one point Adam took the overall lead of the whole race, passing leaders Herberth Motorsport on merit. At the conclusion of the first six hours, they were P1 in class and 8th overall, setting themselves up nicely for Sunday’s action.

Frustratingly, they were not able to utilise their well-earned advantage, with a safety car on the opening lap of Sunday’s stint allowing their rivals to catch up and push forward. With two hours to go, the #930 was just over a lap behind the leader. By their penultimate pit stop though their luck began to change, when a full course yellow was called just as they entered the pits, allowing them to get back in the game and rejoin in the lead. Maintaining their now 20-second advantage for the remainder of the race, the HRT 992 Porsche Cup GT3 car crossed the line first in class, once again sending Christodoulou to the stop step of the podium. 

Commenting on his latest race win, Adam said: “What a brilliant result! It was great to race with Eric again, as well as working with Xinzhe and the HRT Performance team. The race and the conditions were pretty intense, and I’m so pleased with the outcome for us.”
