The Wolf GB08 Thunder go racing in Sicily for the third round of the ACI Racing Weekend
The Autodromo di Pergusa hosts the Campionato Italiano Sport Prototipi for the third consecutive year. After welcoming the first round of the 2022 season, this year the track near the Pergusa Lake will see the Wolf GB08 Thunder on track for their second round after the season opener in Imola. The multiple Italian Champion Davide Uboldi arrives in Pergusa with the championship lead after the two podiums and the 31 points collected in the last round, ready to conquer the victory just like the last time on this track.
The battle for the second position in the standings is already on fire, with as many as three drivers bunched within two points. The American Jesse Menczer, thanks to his maiden podium in Imola, leads the chasing pack with 22 points, while just one point behind there’s the Swede Emil Hellberg, who became the 30th different winner in the CISP after the championship’s technical partnership with Wolf Racing Cars thanks to his win in race 2.
The 2021 champion Danny Molinaro is fourth, after winning the first race in Imola, with 20 points and ready to replicate the battle which led him to his championship win back then. In Imola it was Michele Fattorini the most consistent, fifth in the standings with 16 points, ready to hunt for more in Sicily.
Matteo Roccadelli (BHK Motorsport) is currently the only poleman of the season, sixth in the standings thanks to the 13 points collected with the fastest lap in the qualifying round and the podium during the second race on the Santerno river. On equal points - 10 specifically - are the two Emotion Motorsport drivers, Pietro Ferri and Manuel Deodati, also leader of the Master trophy with 40 points in front of Stefano Attianese, behind him also in the general standings.
Forced to retire his car in Imola Alister Yoong is tenth, while Vignash Kadarbad (BHK Motorsport) leads the Coppa Under 25. Donalds Milokanovic is the Rookie leader.
In addition, Pergusa has some news. The first one is about the returning Columbian driver David Acosta Molina, while already announced during the winter was Sergio Farris’ debut, on track for the first time after his uphill racing career. Also from uphill racing is the Catanian Angelo Zammataro, who will be sharing the car with Fabio Emanuele, slalom champion.
The schedule in Pergusa is set to be pretty exciting, with one session of free practices on Friday, 19 May from 09:00 AM to 01:00 PM, while Saturday, 20 May will see two other 25 minute sessions of free practices, respectively at 10:10 AM and 12:40 AM.
