Nichols Cars, the team behind the hotly-anticipated lightweight, Can-Am-inspired British sports car, the N1A, celebrated the car’s UK public debut this weekend. Held at the famed Bicester Heritage Sunday Scramble, the N1A stole the hearts and minds of automotive and motorsport enthusiasts on Sunday (8 October) following an online-only launch this Summer.

Created by engineering mastermind and Formula One legend Steve Nichols, with an award-winning team of suppliers and manufacturers, the N1A is a resplendent ode to the golden era of motorsport, and a nod to the future. Inspired by the Can-Am racers of the Sixties, utilising trailblazing technologies of the present, the result is a lightweight sports car (900 kg) paired with a 7.0-litre V8 (as standard in the launch edition), with minimal driver aids and maximum attention-to-detail.

Only ever seen in private previews following its digital launch this July, Nichols Cars’ stand at Bicester Heritage housed not only the car but also a booth to chat with the team, including Steve Nichols and some of the key engineering minds behind the N1A. The first time the car has been seen in public, it was housed alongside other classic vehicles on display at the expansive Bicester Heritage site. The N1A was perfectly matched to the environment of fellow exhibitors at the Sunday Scramble.

John Minett, CEO of Nichols Cars, said: “What a weekend. The Sunday Scramble was the ideal location for the public debut of the N1A and we [the team] have been so humbled and appreciative of the support of attendees – and those cheering on from further afar – with the launch of the N1A.

“With Bicester Heritage being renowned for being a community where specialists, craftspeople and businesses are dedicated to the restoration, maintenance and celebration of classic cars, the event draws the hearts and minds of collectors and automotive enthusiasts, with something new yet classic to be seen at every event. A prime platform for the N1A, the Sunday Scramble offered an ideal environment to engage with a passionate and knowledgeable audience who truly appreciated the craftsmanship and design of the car.”

Philip White, associate director ‑ brand and marketing of Bicester Heritage, said: To see and hear the Nichols Cars N1A make such a launch at Bicester Heritage was fabulous; the display was abuzz with enthusiasts all day. Clearly this is only the beginning for the Nichols [Cars] team, and it is a privilege to have played a part in that. Hopefully, it is also the beginning of Bicester Heritage and Nichols Cars, too, and we will get to see more of the N1A at events in future.”

Any customers or suppliers seeking to arrange a meeting following the Bicester Heritage Sunday Scramble are invited enquire directly via the Nichols Cars website. With the total production of the N1A limited to no more than 100 vehicles (including the launch edition run of 15 cars), this sleek, rear-wheel-drive sports car is equipped with a top-of-the-range 7.0-litre all-alloy V8 engine (as standard in the launch edition) and a fully customisable interior, offering a car for motorsport admirers who truly enjoy the thrill of driving. First customer deliveries will commence Q2 2024.
